Rich & Rigo — A Rainy-Season Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

June 4, 2021 · Puerto Vallarta

Same-sex wedding, legal in Jalisco

When you cover an LGBT wedding in Vallarta, your publication focuses on this special, unique event — that freedom that everyone can finally have to marry whomever they want. That freedom is new; you feel so much love, so much happiness in each participant. Covering an LGBT event is not only fun but full of feelings at every corner. It is the ideal place to feel that love is universal, that love has no colour or sex, and that each human has that beautiful faculty called "love" — and no one has the right to take that freedom away from anyone.

But the wedding of Rich & Rigo is not only remembered for being such a special marriage between two men, but for the extreme conditions in which the event occurred. There are days that are never forgotten, and Rich & Rigo will never forget their wedding in Puerto Vallarta.

Rainy wedding = happy wedding!

Those who live in Vallarta know that June is the month when the rains come. From the moment the couple were ready to begin the ceremony, it started raining non-stop all night. There was a short break for dinner, but at the first dance it returned stronger.

Working at the wedding of Rich & Rigo was very difficult for everyone, but for me it was a delightful difficulty. I watched my gear fail step by step — a flash, then another, then the radio, until cameras went mad. But I do not complain about the difficulty, because the rain allowed me to do what I had wanted to do for years. I'll be honest and confess that for several seasons I had been craving a good rain at a wedding. Now that I see the pictures, I hope you will remember that beautiful rainy day, when you promised to love each other forever, as I will remember it — one of my favorite weddings I have ever covered.

Event planner: Talbot Ross · Venue: Villa Mandarinas.
