The Marietas Islands — a cenote on the Pacific

Only a short boat trip from Punta Mita, the Marietas Islands hide the famous Beach of Love — a hidden beach inside the rock, like a cenote on the Pacific. That is where Carina & Ricardo went after their wedding at Grand Velas Vallarta, to play in the water and make a session out of it. Rivers, waterfalls and sunset beaches around Vallarta work their magic too.

Trash the Dress in Vallarta — FAQ

What exactly is a Trash the Dress session?

A post-wedding session where you wear your dress and suit one more time — in the ocean, a river or the rain — for images impossible to make on the wedding day. Despite the name, most dresses survive: a good wash and they are fine.

Where are the best spots around Puerto Vallarta?

The hidden beach of the Marietas Islands — the Beach of Love — is the crown jewel, a short boat trip from Punta Mita. Jungle rivers, waterfalls and the beaches of the South Shore at sunset are spectacular alternatives.

When should we do it?

Usually one or two days after the wedding, when hair and makeup can be done again and there is no schedule to run after — just the three of us and the ocean.

Is it safe for non-swimmers?

Yes — we adapt the session to your comfort: shoreline and waist-deep images are just as dramatic, and my team is always at arm’s reach.
