Family sessions that feel like play, not posing

An hour together, on the beach or at the house. Nobody has to pose, and nobody has to behave. The children run, the grandparents laugh at them, and I photograph what’s already there. What you get back is what it felt like to be here, with the people you love.

A family session can be so much fun that sometimes I want to put down the camera and join in — that is how it happened with Christopher's family at Rancho 11, Punta Mita. I keep the session moving like a game, so the kids forget the camera and the real smiles come out. More about family photography in Vallarta.

“We had a large family, and trying to coordinate all of us without making the shots look staged isn’t easy. Our pictures are WONDERFUL!” — Carrie Gaddy

Family sessions in Puerto Vallarta — FAQ

When is the best time for a family session?

Golden hour — the last hour before sunset — when the light over Banderas Bay is warm and soft, and the beach starts to empty. It is also the hour kids enjoy most: not too hot, with the day’s energy still there.

What if our kids will not pose?

Perfect — I do not ask them to. My style is photojournalism: I photograph your family playing, laughing and being together, and gently gather everyone for a couple of portraits at the end.

Where do family sessions happen?

Anywhere from the beaches of Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita to your villa or resort — vacation reunions, anniversaries and newborn sessions included.

How many people can join?

The whole tribe. Multi-generation vacation reunions are some of my favorite sessions — grandparents included.
